There are some extraordinary machines around.
30th October 2007Many of the readers of our web site will sympathise with our inclination to wander off the beaten track and spend hours wandering through scrap yards which accumulated for commercial reasons or perhaps simply because somebody had the collecting bug.
Two fascinating items turned up in a rural scrap yard recently.
These include a tractor - sorry, correction - a contraption. Does anybody have any idea what this machine was designed to do....?
Turning back the clock somewhat how about a homemade Whippet tractor? This wooden wheeled car had actually been converted into a tractor and had slumbered in the scrap yard for goodness knows how long. Probably the only one in the world but a testament to South African rural agricultural ingenuity from days gone by.
