Planting Oats
ADDED 29th March 2008
At this time of the year we plant Oats.  There are a number of reasons for this:
 
a) It is excellent livestock feed for the winter.

b) It is particularly good as a rotational crop because it neutralises plant root diseases that might have become established.

c) Finally it ensures that we have some green to feast our eyes on during the long brown winter.
