Why
in a time of global food shortages is our infrastructure
allowed to deteriorate like this?
As
one drives around South Africa one sees quite a number of
silos, admittedly not as big as the more modern ones but
still of extreme value to local farmers who are having to
pay ever higher grain storage costs. Interesting
enough as preservationists we note that many of these big
silos and mills were powered by a wonderful National Hornsby
and Ruston engine. They are reliable and they are
economical and perhaps more importantly they are virtually
free.
Maybe
South Africa needs a Silos and Engines in Action Group?
I am sure the farmers would find it a tempting proposition
from a purely financial standpoint.
