Sandstone attends MG Car Club Indaba in Port Elizabeth in September 2008
ADDED 4th October 2008
The MG Car Club of South Africa recently invited Sandstone to do a presentation at their Indaba in Port Elizabeth to share the history and experiences of Sandstone Estates and the Sandstone Heritage Trust. Mike Myers attended on behalf of Sandstone Estates and was hosted by Garth Todd from the Port Elizabeth MG Car Club.

The MG Car Club have visited Sandstone Estates in the past and having experienced the activities on the Estate they expressed a desire to learn more about how what they had seen had come about. Mike shared some of the Sandstone’s history to around 160 MG participants and took the audience through the entire evolution of the farming side and preservation activities.

This presentation was one of many activities held over a number of days in Port Elizabeth for the MG Car Club participants. The event did not only draw members from all over South Africa but also hosted some international MG enthusiasts who had travelled to South Africa to attend the Indaba. In attendance were 217 participants in total of which 194 were from South Africa and 21 from overseas. There were 116 MG’s motor cars at the event which included a rare MG VA and MG WA Tickford dating back to the 1940’s. There were also MG TC’s, TD’s and MG A’s dating back to the 1960’s and many more.

One of the participants from Malaysia is currently circumnavigating the world in his MGA and like an Australian participant had shipped their MG’s to South Africa for the event. After the event both travelled to the equator in Kenya and returned to South Africa.

Sandstone would like to congratulate the MG Car Club for hosting a very successful event.

We have a PDF Presentation to the MG Club which you can view (in a new window) by clicking here (11Mb PDF).
