Modern Farming

Well, we're back from the show, and we all had a great time! A Horticultural angle to the show can be seen:
|
|
Philip putting the head back on the Sturmey Archer engine on his RSJ mower, and various other mowers and the rotavator.

|
But first we had to mow the show area, and continued to do so all day..... On your marks, get set, GO!

And my Ransomes Minor with the Villiers Midget engine:

| This blue one is the Rolux which I got from the scrappie a few weeks ago. It is being driven by a 1 HP Eisemann genny driven by a Sachs Stamo petrol engine! On the left are 2 Webb mowers, the one that I got at the same time as the Rolux for Philip the other tiddly one he had already! Philip's party piece with the Sturmey Archer engine on the bigger Ransomes is to make it idle so slowly that the impulse engages, at 180 RPM!!! Continuing the horticultural equipment theme we had this mill, working through a pile of Malted Barley, so the owner could make beer! Powered by a small Villiers, still on the cut-off chassis of a mower! |

| I met up with and chatted to Bertha Blackwood-Murray, the lady whose late husband's garages I helped sort out. Here is her 1901 Albion Dog Cart: |

| I think it's Serial No 10 ? They only started up on Jan 1 1900, by Bertha's late husband's grandfather and others. 2 cars along and out of sight is the Benz of 1901, I think vying for oldest car in the country! |
| There were some other fancy numbers: |

| Mike Thurgood was there with 4 of his Hot Air engines: (His Kyko fan engine was stolen from a show last year!) |

| And some Stationary Engines, here is Arthur's Fuller & Johnson: |

| All the time we were pressed by people with questions, or just looking, chatting, and just really interesting and interested. Most of the people who go to this show at least know what a piston is! |
| Regards, Andy |
